The Role

Have you ever been part of a mechanical development team bringing a novel product to life and thought to yourself “there has GOT to be a better way!?” This may be the perfect role for you.

This is a high-ownership role for a practicing mechanical engineer who wants to go deeper on the hardest problems in the field, and apply that depth where it has the most leverage: shaping the product that thousands of mechanical teams use to get to manufacturing.

The core of this job is product-minded and user-focused research and synthesis. You’ll dig into complex mechanical engineering subjects: GD&T and tolerancing, manufacturing processes, DFM, model-based definition, and the standards that govern critical hardware. You will develop a rigorous understanding of how the best teams actually work, and partner closely with our product and engineering team to turn that understanding into a real product that fundamentally changes workflows for engineers around the globe.

You’ve designed real, high-precision parts and know what good looks like, and how the process works, collaboration with manufacturers, making design/manufacturing/cost tradeoffs and demonstrating the ability to get a quality product across the line. You’re the kind of engineer who can take an ambiguous, gnarly subject, get to the bottom of it, and translate it into language to communicate to others.

This is a deeply technical role but you will also be rolling up your sleeves; you may at times work directly with customers and prospects, observing their real workflows, pressure-testing your thinking, and validating that what we’re building holds up against the hardest real-world parts. The best answers often come from the field: going deep, getting it right, and challenging the assumptions that no longer hold.
